The national NUS/UCU demonstration on 10 November drew 50,000 students to London and was a magnificent show of strength against the Con Dems’ savage attacks on education. The Tories want to make swingeing cuts, cutting education funding by 80% introduce £9,000 tuition fees and cut EMA. These attacks will devastate higher education and further education for a generation of young people.

A continent shook with strikes and protests today in response to the call by The European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) for action against the cuts.

The protests can become a starting point for a European wide resistance against the effects of the crisis.

At least 15 activists from the “Free-Gaza” campaign were killed this morning on a ship, part of a flotilla trying to enter the Gaza strip to bring humanitarian aid to the Palestinians.

Solidarity from British youth and workers to Italian youth and workers
The movement by student and workers in Italy over the last few months is an inspiration to all those in Europe facing similar battles as the recession takes hold.

On Saturday night Greek police murdered 15 year old Andreas Grigoropoulos at what was meant to be an enjoyable party with his friends.

In the last weeks Italian workers and students have taken to the streets in opposition to the right-wing ruling coalition, and in particular the vicious attacks on the education system. REVOLUTION expresses solidarity with all those taking part.

Different representatives of the ruling class of Israel and the US have increased pressure against Iran again. It was Hillary Clinton who started with saying that she would eliminate Iran if it would attack Israel. The designated candidate for the US presidential elections, Barack Obama, followed suit and made clear with his speech in front of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) that he is a “friend of Israel”. In this speech he also emphasised that “there is no greater threat to Israel – or to the peace and stability of the region – than Iran” and that his “goal will be to eliminate this threat”.
