Campaigning work of Austrian section of REVOLUTION, August - September 2008

Once again 2 months where we fought for Revolution. What happened in that time?

We, young revolutionaries, were witnesses of the birth of new “Linke” (Left).

“Linke” out now!

What?

Yes! Because the SPÖ, the social democrats in Austria, the official labour party, is going through a crisis. Since decades they do not fight any more for the workers, but for their own privileges in capitalism. More and more workers recognise that. The number of SPÖ-members today is the lowest since 1918.

The aim was clear: A new Labour Party in Austria to organise workers for class-struggle. So we thought, that this alliance could attract more of disillusioned workers than we could do on our own with the LFI. That’s the reason why we are part of the “Linke” since it’s rising. The “Linke” should be a left alternative; ready to fight and radical. Anti-capitalistic! So we had to fight in the “Linke” for a revolutionary perspective. But the self-called “Revolutionaries” of SLP(Austrian section of the CWI) and KI (Stalinist separation of the KPÖ[“communist” Party]) didn’t want a revolution. All they wanted was just reforms. So the “Linke” does not get revolutionary, but a left-reformist manifest. The next struggle we had to fight was all about the youth. Because we got an invitation from a school where we could present, like all the other parties, their point of views. The point was that the SLP and KI didn’t want to send the young comrades to the school but the old “experienced” ones. That was a clearly sign of missing faith in youth and oppression. Anyway, me Max Kutscher was sent as a youth representer to the school together with a “experienced” comrade.

That gave us the chance to speak to hundreds of young students – most of them migrants -. In my speeches I showed that we stand for a radical fight against racism and capitalism. And the young students really cheered, when I told them about the demonstration - that we organise – against the FPÖ, which is the most racist party in Austria.

In a probational election 46 % of the students voted for the “Linke”.

First time I heard that, I was shocked. That shows that the young migrants in Austria are pissed of having no job, no future but racism and oppression. They sympathize with radical politics like we do. Perfect. A Chance s to attract more young migrants for REVOLUTION.

The demonstration against the FPÖ & Racism! (in Vienna)

Other 300 people found together to rise against the FPÖ, the most racist Party in Austria. Equipped with red “REVOLUTION”-Flags, megaphones, percussions, and a nice transparent we moved against the right baiters, shouting ‘international solidarity’ and slogans against racism. The mood was fine, and once again we get in contact with new young people via collecting e-mail-addresses, phone numbers and selling our paper.

The building up of REVOLUTION in Vienna is going on!
